MAY 2009 LONG RANGE MATCHGRAYLING, MICHIGANA quick wrap up of our first Grayling match of the season -- Our new CONEX worked great, preserving all of our equipment throughout the winter and allowing us to ready the pit area in very short order. As part of our continuing improvement program, Peter Church supervised building special cement seats for our wind flag set. For our Any/ Any shooting on Saturday, our stalwart crew out-waited the rain, commenced fire at noon, and finally settled on completing two- rather all three of our scheduled matches. After the rain stopped, the weather was merely cold and windy. On Sunday, for our iron sight matches, the weather was more cooperative, providing a warm wind that was merely howling. Coats, however, continued to be required. Peter Church and Bob Steketee took final first and second place honors, with Renzo Tormen cleaning up in Master Class. Our F-class shooters are becoming more numerous. Bill Hammers, took final F-class honors with his F(o) class rifle. But more importantly, for the future, we were able to set up a complete class of F(tr) shooters. Jim Dietlein won the F(tr) class, with Bob Lorenz also doing extremely well. Hope to see everybody next month for our first Palma match. Check our web site for details. Cheers, Dick Pardini, Match Director Michigan Rifle & Pistol Association, Long Range Division 4965 Stanwood Street Muskegon, Michigan 49441 (231)798-3372 |
