Michigan Long Range Championship Recap

Thirty-two competitors enjoyed the sand and balmy weather of Camp Grayling to fire our September Michigan Long Range Championship. The weather could not have been better. The wind was light and readable with only occasional Grayling switchbacks. We were only snookered by one range fire caused by incendiary rounds from machine gun fire on an adjacent range. Sunday could not have been more perfect.

Our Michigan State Champion this year was Bryan Litz, now an honest to goodness Michigan resident. Bryan, it appears finally read his own book on ballistics – or at least the excellent chapter on adjusting for the wind.

Special Congratulations to our Juniors – We had six this year – led by Hanna Gaddie, our new State of Michigan Junior Long Range Champion. Good mentoring, Bob Steketee.

Next year, our schedule will likely add some special two-person team matches focused on letting our better shooters teach their wind reading skills to our newer ones. Check our web site early next year for our 2010 schedule and match bulletins.
