2010 Michigan Long Range / F-Class Regional

Thirty-eight competitors enjoyed the sun, rain, sand, powder smoke, and fairly mild winds at the 2010 Michigan Long Range Regional this year.    Both conventional “sling” shooters and F-class shooters were well represented and were also blessed with a host of new shooters for both classes.

Fifteen shooters showed up on Friday to establish or reconfirm zeroes.  Thanks go to all of those that assisted in setting up the range. 

At Saturday’s sign-up, we discovered that we had so many shooters that Mike Ross, our intrepid Range Master, was forced to convert from a three-relay to a four-relay squadding system in order to accommodate all of our new shooters.  Mike proceeded to run a superb match.

On Saturday, the weather gods threatened rain and finally delivered.   The day started in good order and all shooters got through the Match 1 in good shape.  But the last relay of Match 2 succeeded in getting a good soaking before they were finished.  Match 3 was a scratch.

Day 1 Iron-Sight high finishers in the sling category were Bryan Litz, Peter Church, and Bob Steketee.   Tony Horvath and Bob Lorenz led in F(o) and F(tr) rifles.

Saturday’s festivities were, however, saved by the brauts, potatoes, beer, and mysterious sauces provided by Dave Wuethrich, Jim Dietlein, Mike Ross, and Bob Lorenz.  Dave also provided informal entertainment.

Sunday, Zeus gave us a glorious day.  The sun was out and the wind was fair.  Day 2 Any-Sight high finishers were  Bob Steketee, Dick Pardini, and Peter Church.    Tony Horvath and Jim Dietlein came out highest in F(o) and F(tr).
